A single tool to help you run your healthcare practice

We were working with a client recently - a dental studio in Uganda - who needed to be able to take appointments online, manage them automatically in a single system, keep patient records, and keep track of financials - service pricing, invoices, reports, etc.

After considering a few different tools, we landed on Cliniko (affiliate link). Their tool ticked all the boxes, and the customer service team was incredibly responsive and accommodating. We needed extra time to evaluate Cliniko, and they were even able to get our free trial extended without a problem.

There are 3 main areas of a healthcare practice management that Cliniko can help with:

1. Appointment management

Cliniko offers an online booking system that can be integrated into your healthcare practice's website. This means that patients can easily book their own appointments without needing to call or email your receptionist staff. The tool provides full control to your staff for scheduling, rescheduling, and checking patients in. Moreover, Cliniko's system also offers the ability to send appointment reminders over SMS, which can be very helpful in reducing no-shows. However, please keep in mind that there is an additional charge for this service.

2. Patient information and records management

Each patient in your Cliniko account has their own file, which is similar to how physical records are managed in a healthcare practice. These records contain basic patient information, including contact details, medical history, insurance information, and more. Additionally, the record contains the patient's upcoming and past appointments, treatment notes that the doctor has entered for that patient, past invoices and payments, and other relevant information. This feature can help streamline your healthcare practice's workflow, enabling practitioners to easily access all patient information and records in one place.

3. Financial management

Cliniko offers features to manage your healthcare practice's financials effectively. You can manage past invoices and payments, record new ones, and run reports to gain insight into your practice's financial performance. If your practice sells physical products, you can add them to Cliniko as well, making it easy to record these in a patient's invoice. You can also add your practice expenses to the tool to get a complete picture of your business’ financial performance.

Finally, there are some important extra benefits to the tool!

Cliniko is HIPPA compliant

HIPAA compliance is crucial in the healthcare industry to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Cliniko is HIPAA-compliant, meaning that it adheres to the standards set by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). This feature ensures that your healthcare practice meets regulatory requirements and protects your patients' sensitive information.
